2004.11.15Greetings everyone in CyberSpace...once again i apologize for the lack of updates lately, i was extremely busy with the Kerry/Edwards Campaign that i rarely got the chance to do any kind of updates. Yes we got beat, but hopefully this only marks the beginning of a new movement. especially among us Native Americans. I am extremely proud of what we all did in the campaign run. We turned out one of the biggest voter turnouts in our demographic here in the Northern Arizona Area. Even better then that we won the rez in a landslide. The numbers were something like 60 to 40 all in favor for Kerry!! Tremendous victory in that!! Besides that i met a good number of people during our campaign run. I was fortunate to meet Diana Kerry, John Kerry's Sister, i was able to meet Terry McAuliffe the Democratic National Chairman, i be-friended people like Joe SHirley and his staff, some council members from the Dine nation. I was able to meet Janet Napalitano the governor of ARizona, along with Bill Richardson the governor of New Mexico. The political process was awesome, i have no regrets and i thank everyone who stood with us during election time, i thank everyone who took the time out to learn about the democratic process, and i am thankful to everyone who have bared with me through the most historical election ever!!!.....
Aside from the politics, i think i am going to stay active in the political game both locally and nationally, things are messed up and i think its almost to the point where we need to reform, and re-think our lifestyles and methods of living in a Free World!!!...don't get me wrong, Music will still be the top priority, and will be used as a tool to spread the message of Peace and Love!!
Aside from the politics, I have a New Cd in the making, its a Mix that will be featured for the Next Native Threads compilation. It will include a colorful number of Native Emcees and Hip Hop artist from all over Canada, and Native AMerica. There are a few Bootlegs of it already leaked, but get an original. Myself, Tactile the Rhymechild, Alyssa Divine are all headed up north to Toronto Canada. We will be play Saturday November 27th, at the Peel PUb in Downtown Toronto. We will also be at the Aboriginal Festival and hopefully the Awards! check the agenda for more info..

2004.09.25Greetings everyone out there in Cyber Land!!..just wanted to let everyone know that i was in Washington D.C. during the opening of the Smithsonian Musuem of the American Indian. The event was awesome. 20,000 of us 'First Americans' marched into the D.C. Mall and represented our individual tribes and nations. I was fortunate enough to get to see and go inside the actual musuem and i must say that it is a beautiful building.
on another note i was fortunate enough to go to the National Democratic Headquarters and i recieved training for field campaigning for the Democratic Party and John Kerry and John Edwards. So yep, i am offically endorsing John Kerry and John Edwards as my pick for the presidency. On a side note i'm organizing a field campaign at all my shows and various stops for the Democratic Party. I wanted to exercise my right to vote and i want everyone to exercise the right to vote despite who you are for. This Years election is going to come down to us Native Americans deciding who should be in office.
We Native Americans have sooooo much power and yet there are a good number of us who don't realize this yet. There are 5 battle ground states and New Mexico and Arizona along with Washington, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are going to be the Key States that are going to decide the presidency. All these "battleground" states have a big Native American population. So when it comes down to it and when the dust settles its up to US Native American's who decide the Presidency. WE NEED TO EXERCISE OUR RIGHT AND NOT WAKE UP NOVEMBER 3RD WITH REGRET!!
I endorse John Kerry because i feel he has a greater plan that will benefit our Native Community. In all honesty, the reason i got involved with politics is because last year my Grandma was denied her medicare. She was worried and i was worried for her, i wondered how many of our grandparents in Native Land have experienced this dilemma. Another reason was because of the War. I think the War in Iraq is jeopardizing too many Native Families and Too many Native People, i'm tired of seeing Native Soldiers coming home in caskets. Before all of this i was totally an anti-bush advocate, however now i'm an anti-bush advocate an a John Kerry Supporter!! Please, Please everyone join me in the Most IMPORTANT ELECTION in our lifetime and lets all put who needs to be in office in office!!.....

2004.08.20 - News from AbelABEL had been mentioned in this weeks (August 18th) Navajo Times. Over the weekend Headliners for the Window Rock Fest bailed on thousands of Native Fans. When a potential volatile and dangerous situation could've occured during that time, " DJ ABEL turned the tables and difffused a potentially volatile situation and got the crowd chanting against SOULFLY, making soe fo the anger and dissapointment subside. Look for DJ ABEL to be featured in the next NATIVE THREADS CATALOG. "i just returned from a kik ass photo shoot in San Diego. DJ ABEL has teamed up with Tactile The Rhymechild as Tactile's Exclusive DJ. Tactile The RhymeChild is a San Juan Pueblo from New Mexico however residing in Fremont California. "Tactile was always someone i thought was dope both lyrically and consciously. i think his brand of hip hop is exactly what we need in the Native Hip hop scene right now. I am very happy and excited to work with tactile the rhymechild both on his album and onstage!..actually i'm nervous being that i never worked single handedly one on one with an emcee. it was never a passion for me until i actually heard the Savage Style Emcees. Brodhi's album is tight, and i'm excited to rip shit up with Tactile the Rhymechild!...we go on tour starting this summer so keep a look out!!"Abel recently became the advocate for ROCK THE VOTE!. He will be the primary street team leader for the Navajo Reservation. Look for ROCK THE VOTE at future ABEL gigs and REGISTER TO VOTE!. Through Rock the Vote ABel will be doing presentations and performances at this years UNITY conference in Gila River AZ. check the agenda for exact dates! ABEL team mates Poetic CEE and Dj Astonish are both in the United States Finals for this years DMC competition. Abel along wtih Element and the versatile Dj's will be assisting ASTONISH in his mission to win this years DMC
Abel, Dine Undergrond, and Rancid Savage productions will be throwing a Fourth of July Music Festival during the 4th of July weekend. the lineup is still being worked on and will be unveiled SOON.
Abel has conducted an interview with Mafia Magazine. It is unknown when the actual interview will be published but keep a look out for the Interview with Mafia Magazine. The interview is a brief description of Abel's story as a DJ in the urban hip hop scene and his dramatic switch to the Native Hip Hop scene.

DJ ABEL RELEASES LATEST MIX CDIt's been almost 2 years since we've seen a full fledged studio mix cd from the most recognizable Native American DJ in the U.S., DJ Abel. With most of his recent projects like "Ressurection Session" and "Summer Fling" focusing on underground/independent hip hop artists, "02" was the last main stream mix we've listened to and it's almost 2 years old! Organizing and performing at shows, various side projects and self-producing another album with traditional instruments, Abel has finally returned with a mix cd that's guaranteed to keep you listening, dancing, partying and maybe even thinking? It's called "ABEL'S TURN".
Featuring some exclusive all new tracks from Talib Kweli, Common Sense, Kanye West, Tupac and Eminem, as well as a collaboration with bay area native, Brohdi. All of which are appearing side by side with other tracks that are hot in the clubs and on the radio right now. Welcome to the New Dj ABel site, which is still under a bit of rebuilding. hope you all enjoy the new graphics and the new music that have been added. the background music are snippets and clips from the upcoming dj abel album.Abel has been added to the most anticipated Music Festival at the Gathering Of Nations. Aside from the Electric 49 Dj ABel will be doing promo and shows for the NATIVE THREADS store at the Gathering of Nations Indian market.
